Motto: Strength through Unity
Terra Nova or {TN} is one of the Top 30 guilds of the Alpha Server.
The guild is a mixed constitution, a form of government that integrates facets of democracy, oligarchy, and complete autocracy. The {TN}'s mixed government represents a legislative balance where issues of Guild policy are governed by the majority of its people, while daily control and function of the state is directed by a single individual.
Governed by both the Magnus Dux & Rani, the {TN}'s active military command and policy making are controlled and determined by the commanders and members of Terra Nova.

History
Origin
Founded in January of 2007, the Terran Hegemony was the natural outgrowth of an earlier gaming group from Solaris 7, a Classic BattleTech fansite. Much like the humble beginnings of other Alpha guilds such as RAGEX or Trinity, the founding members of the {HEG} came together as a family-like group bent on recreating one of Classic BattleTech's most beloved and oft forgotten fictional factions. To this end the {HEG} was born, but quickly evolved into a unique Roleplay and fictional environment that bore little resemblance to its Classic BattleTech roots.
Dissolution
In March of 2008 the Terran Hegemony Guild, after over a glorious year of playing together collapsed during a brief war with the Knights of Ni when internal dissension threw the {HEG} into the grip of a major Civil War. Even among the very throes of a common enemy, the Terran Hegemony succumbed beneath the weight of its own membership.
Three distinct groups would emerge during the {HEG} Civil War: Loyalist, Separatist, and Neutral.
Keeping to the guild's original tenets, the Loyalist cadre (claiming the bulk of the Guild's membership) reformed in the brief Terran Alliance Guild (TA) who continued to adherence to the {HEG}'s basic principles and tenets. Earning the respect of the Knights of Ni, the two guilds eventually signed an MDP, which remains in effect to this day.
The Separatist dissenters eventually went on to form their own guilds after suing for peace.
Perhaps the greatest tragedy of the {HEG} Civil War was the sundering of so many long term friendships among its members. The very "family-like" nature of the {HEG} made any betrayal a hard one to swallow. Unsurprisingly then, it was the Guild's neutral players that suffered unnecessarily. Forced to choose, many of these players left the {HEG}'s successors wholesale, either leaving AE or moving on to new guilds.
Players like Cav, Warhawk, Prometheus Fire, Nwabudike and others started new chapters in places like EeY, NOVA, and NPO, where some remain to this day.
Terra Nova
In September of 2008 the Terran Alliance Guild merged with the NOVA Guild, finally ending the long history of the Terran Hegemony and its successors.
During the formation of Terra Nova, Cryon, a sect from the Mordor Family, declared war on Nova as it was merging. Though attempts were made to halt or drag out the wars' start, they were made in vain. Through the next month or so of war, Terra Nova developed its structure under it's new leader, Darkone2. Knightmare, who had been the leader of the Hegemony, took a backseat role and observed the guild before encountering account problems for some time.
Upon the closing of the war, Terra Nova developed its political structure and information systems, branching out to various guilds for communication. Several contacts with guilds such as MaY were made, and although no pacts were formed during this time, it is known for it's stability and development of it's members.
Towards the close of the year in December, Terra Nova was thrust into another war, this time out of boredom, by [Odd]. The war first lasted for 2 weeks before a 3 week cease-fire for the holidays was granted. Upon the ending of the cease-fire, fighting immediately broke out again. During this time, much of Terra Nova concentrated on fleet production, with impressive results.
- At this time, TN continues it's war with Odd, which grows more hostile by the week*
Past Guild Organization: Hegemony & Alliance Timespan
The High Councilor
The post of High Councilor is the second most important post within the Terran Hegemony's hierarchy. The High Councilor is tasked with governing the daily operations and smooth functioning of the guild. This important Administrative position ensures that the guild runs an even keel through even the most trying of circumstances. As a result, the High Councilor places the needs of the guild and the prosperity of its members above all else, including the needs of his or her individual member-state.
Terran Senate
Arguably the most important title held by any member of the {HEG} is that of Senator. The Terran Senate is the definitive governing body of the Terran Hegemony. Imbued with full Legislative power, the Terran Senate determines guild-wide policy for the {HEG}'s member-states. Composed of Senatorial Representatives from every member-state of the Terran Hegemony. These men and women gather on ancient Terra to decide the collective fates of every Hegemony citizen. Only full member-states of the Terran Hegemony can elect to send a Senatorial representative to Terra, probationary member-states are expected to follow until they are given a voice in the shaping of the {HEG}'s future.
It should be noted that regardless of what position or title head by a member of the Terran Senate, they are always referred to as Senator, as they are first and foremost a representative of the Terran Hegemony.
Notable Organization
Mercenary & Bonding Commission The Mercenary & Bonding Commission (MBC) is the Terran Hegemony's incarnation of the ancient practice of lend-lease. Designed to allow member-state military units to operate beyond Hegemony-controlled space, the (MBC) organizes {HEG} Expeditionary Forces to participate in non-guild related confrontations as mercenary armies.
Contracted {HEG} forces operate at their own discretion. Interested parties should contact the {HEG}'s High Councilor for additional details.
Current Guild Organization: Nova Timespan
Magnus Dux, Rani & Vicarius
Currently held by Darkone2 and Enelya, these two positions are representative of the two leaders of Terra Nova: Darkone from the former Alliance, Eneyla from the former Nova. In these positions holds all the diplomatic power of Terra Nova, as well as all executive decisions. In peace time, these are the only leadership positions in the guild. These posts deal with all the internal and external affairs of the guild, and direct underlings in various guild and AE-wide affairs.
Soon after the merger Enelya left the game. The Magnus Level was re-organized with Gregory Alexander stepping up from the military head to become the second Magnus under the title Magnus Vicarius. The title Magnus Rani which is a title for a female leader was put in suspended animation. Gregory Alexander continues to this day as the second in command of the Terra Nova, and only the third non-Solarian to hold such high rank.
Legate Fitawrari
This position is held by the Supreme Commander of Military Operations. In wartime, this leader is essensially the person in command of all affairs dealing with fleet dispersal patterns and combat operations, as well as any affairs dealing with interferance from other guilds. He gives out orders to his other Commanders, the Princeps, who help direct the other members of the guild in operations. In peacetime, this leader is essensially a second to the Magnus', and also helps to deal with outside affairs in some cases.
Guild Roleplay & Fiction Work
Without a doubt the most important aspect of the Terran Hegemony Guild is our dedicated Fiction Site and Role Play.
Centerpiece to this guild-wide endeavor is the Ordo Libraconis<ref> , Ordo Libraconis </ref>.
Assembled and hosted by the Terran Hegemony {HEG} Guild, the Ordo Libraconis website is a site earmarked and designed to allow readers to follow the fictional development of the Terran Hegemony and her member-states during the game’s on-going progress. Written and portrayed in the same manner as an evening news report, this site as with most public news, might be incomplete, biased, or even fraudulent so reader beware! The site will give you a solid idea to the present happenings in the Hegemony, focusing on the {HEG}’s individual component empires.
The Ordo Libraconis website begins with the date 4678 TY (2812 CY/AT - 813 HY) from which our present Guild time line unfolds. Updates include fictional news articles from around the Terran Hegemony, each a unique perspective on the Astroverse as it unfolds. The Ordo Libraconis also contains a substantial amount of historical information, presenting a complete look at the Hegemony’s history, worlds, and her people.
You may also notice that as the universe progresses in Astro-Empires our site will update accordingly. Our time line is a dynamic one and each week brings with it a new fictional year. This was done to give you a real feel of the ongoing conflict affecting the nascent Terran Hegemony and her beleaguered people. Battlefield reports from the front will provide readers with background information on the Terran Hegemony pulled directly from the individual histories of the Hegemony’s various empires, and special insights into the conflict that shaped and continues to shape the {HEG}.
Member States
Integral to the Guild's fictional development are the Member-States
Member-states are the fictional representations of a Guild member's AE account. Each Guild member is responsible, should they choose, to develop a unique fictional "personality" for their individual empire which is then included and integrated into the existing fiction. New member-states are encouraged to think creatively and to incorporate numerous fictional elements.
As a result the collaborative effort of the Ordo has spawned a true mixing pot of fictional elements.
The following is an excerpt from the Ordo Libraconis' about {HEG} Member-states:
The worlds of the Terran Hegemony are as varied as its members. Even before the signing of the Terran Compact that ultimately formed the Hegemony, the constituent member-states of the {HEG} are as varied as the stars. From the sprawling metal and ferro-crete sea of IPD cities, to the nestled mountain-top fortresses of the New Canadian Dominion, the lands of the Hegemony represent a bewildering array of environments and cultures.
Here are but a few of the vast and varied multitude of Hegemony worlds and their cultures:
A fantastic center of advanced Hegemony technology, Castle Brian represents the most “Human” IPD world that serves as the military hub of the Hegemony Armed Forces. Massive fleets move across this system, located in the center of Terran dominated space. A tangled mass of support industries service the visiting war fleets, staffed by legions of Bio-Bod and Real-Bod IPD citizens across planet.
In stark contrast to the inorganic perfection of Castle Brian is the great city of Tabriz, capital of the Tabriz Alliance. Devastated by war, famine and disease, Tabriz is a desert world and the epicenter of Revivalist Islam. Dominated by Mosques, Monasteries, and other sites of Revivalist importance, the world is rife with religious fervor. Highly critical of disbelievers, Tabrizians are extremely traditional. Most visitors find the world and her people very uncomfortable, leaving the planet unpopular with non-Revivalists.
Devastated by nature, rather than by the hand of man, the New Canadian world of Yellowknife is a world battered by the sweet caress of space. Peppered by micro-asteroids and small comet fragments, Yellowknife, suffers from a thick atmosphere that blankets the snowy, mountainous planet. However, despite early ecological disasters, Yellowknife has been described as one of the most beautiful cities in the New Canadian Dominion, perhaps even the entire Hegemony thanks to its charming architecture and dazzling snow banks. The alpine world’s capital nestled deep inside one of the world’s ancient impact craters is a large, bustling metropolis. One of the busiest ports in the Dominion, in no small part to the large orbital Jump Gate overhead, at almost any moment a plethora of cargo vessels fill the world’s skies brimming with the wealth of the Terran Hegemony.
Still the member-states of the Terran Hegemony despite their diversity are bound together through a shared sense of history and vision of the future. Together the member-states of the Terran Hegemony stand together, facing the vast emptiness of space and the uncertainty of a dangerous universe.
A few prominent Member-states of the Terran Hegemony include:
- Cult of Samak
- IPD
- Galactic Trade Commission
- New Canadian Dominion
- CSR Empire
- Tabriz Alliance
- United Terren Confederacy
- Duchy of Anjou
- Promethean Free Fire World
- Hensei Federation
- Neo-Roman Empire
- Sidian Colonial Protectorate
- Clans
